Less than one hour until our new President's State of the Union Address. He has inherited a mess, and so we should not expect too much this first year. I hope we are past the endless string of finger pointing. Liberals know that their policies made this housing mess possible. Conservatives know that their overzealous pursuit of the dollar furthered it. And most importantly, the American people know that their eyes being bigger than their wallets made it a reality. It takes two to tango baby, at least.

So, what do I hope for out of tonight? A call for personal responsibility, not a guarantee of Federal Aid. I'm paying my mortgage. America, pay yours. Or lose your rights to a house that does not belong to you.

I'd love a reintroduction of the call for a line item veto, so these ridiculous projects that get sandwiched into otherwise necessary bills could be lined back out. I'm willing to give the liberals first crack at it. I honestly think Obama would make many, many good decisions, were he allowed to make them.

Address the growing problem in Iran. If we let them have nukes, we deserve what we get.

Explain why Gitmo isn't closed. You promised dude. Reality sucks don't it? And so help me god if you put those people on our soil to fulfil a campaign promise you deserve the hell you will get.

Tell me when the last troop leaves Iraq. Again, you promised.

Please explain the stimulus package. It's no surprise I'm against it, but show me how it creates jobs. Show me how money that will be spent in five years creates jobs today. I hate to be whiny, but you're spending the future. You're literally mortgaging my children. Show me the benefit.

Undoubtedly, there is much more to be discussed. But these are the things that are on the top of my head now. If you address one or two of them satisfactorily, I'll be pretty happy.

In all seriousness, I'm pulling for you. I see socialism failing everywhere it's been tried, but you see a different world. If you are right, maybe we'll all be better off. But you're not.

Relax. The United States strives on a mixed economy. You can't have a mixed economy without some socialism. Go ahead, its not the dirty word you think it is. We will have to swing back the other way in time. That's how it works.
